Arrival in Geneva

During the immigration control , the authorities may ask you for certain documents when entering Switzerland: visa, invitation letter, hotel reservation, etc. Keep these documents with you and not in your luggage.

The airport information desk is located in front of the exit gates, in the public area. It is a space for reception, information and orientation.

Transport to the city

Transports Publics Genevois (TPG) is the transport operator (bus/trams) in Geneva. Maps and timetables are available on the TPG website , and at bus stops.

Find the TPG bus lines available at the airport towards Geneva city centre.

To reach the buses, go up to the 1st floor of the airport, at the Passenger Departure. Exit and turn left towards the SBB/CFF station entrance (see photo).

Price :

  • The price of a ticket to circulate in Geneva (zone 10) is 3 CHF, valid for 60 min.
  • The price of a ticket to go to France (Ferney, zone 10 + 250) is 4.60 CHF, valid for 90 min.

Convenient bus routes from the airport are (click on the link for stops and timetables):

  • The “Intercontinental” stop on bus line 5 takes you to CAGI, the next stop, “Nations”, to UN Geneva-Peace gate, and then the bus goes to Cornavin train station (downtown).
  • Bus line 10 runs to Cornavin station.
  • L’arrêt “Appia” de la ligne de bus 8 permet d’être proche de l’ONU Genève-Pregny gate.

The SBB (Federal Railways, CFF in French) are the train operator for Switzerland. Geneva has two main railway stations, one at the airport, the other in the city center, Gare Cornavin.

By train, the trip from the airport to the station takes about 7 minutes. Check the schedule for more information.

Geneva Transport Card

When you stay in a hotel in Geneva, you’ll benefit from the Geneva Transport Card, which allows you to travel free of charge on public transport throughout the city. You will receive a link by email 3 days before your arrival, enabling you to reach your hotel from the airport.
