Services for NGOs

CAGI assists international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) established or wishing to establish themselves in the Geneva region.

Young professionals agreements

The Young Professionals Agreements, signed by Switzerland with 14 non-EU/EFTA countries, allow NGOs to employ young professionals from these countries with a facilitated access to work permits. These permits – directly granted by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) – are valid for temporary contracts of up to 18 months.

Switzerland has signed Young Professionals Agreements with the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Ukraine and the United States.

Under these agreements, young professionals can apply for a work permit in Switzerland to perfect their professional and linguistic skills. Young professionals must be between 18 and 35 years old and they must have a university degree or professional training of at least 2 years. The employment contract in Switzerland must be for a job in their field of education, and it must be with a salary as for a job starter and based on the going rate for the region and sector (CEA apply). Part-time jobs and self-employment are excluded.

Further information regarding the admission procedure as well as the official application form and a model employment contract can be found on the website of the State Secretariat for Migration.
