CONDITIONS TO ACCESS CAGI'S SUPPORT

CAGI assists international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) established or wishing to establish themselves in the Geneva region.

CAGI database

CAGI’s support to an NGO is conditional upon its registration in the CAGI NGO database. International NGOs with headquarters or a representative office in the Canton of Geneva and meeting the following cumulative conditions are eligible :

  • Be a non-profit organization.
  • Have regular and concrete activities in the Canton of Geneva.
  • Have a street address (a post office box alone is insufficient) in Canton of Geneva.
  • Operate in at least one of the following fields: (1) Environment and sustainable development, (2) Health, (3) Humanitarian Law & Action, Human Rights, Migration, (4) Labour, Economic Affairs, Trade, Science & Telecommunication, (5) Peace, Security and Disarmament.
  • Collaborate with an international organization (consultative status or proven collaboration).
  • Operate in at least two countries.
  • Do not undertake religious or political advocacy.

The constitution of a profile is free of charge and requires the transmission* of the following documents:

  • copy of the signed statutes,
  • signed minutes of the constitutive General Assembly of the association / foundation deed,
  • signed minutes of the latest General Assembly/ Foundation Board meeting (for organizations in existence for one year or more),
  • list of members of the association’s Board / Foundation Board (if not included in the last minutes),
  • last activity report (or, if the association has just been created, a detailed description of the association, its aims and projects),
  • Last balance sheet and profit and loss statement (or, if the association has just been created, a provisional budget).

The inclusion of an entity in the CAGI NGO database is purely informal and does not entail any official recognition.

However, the creation of a complete, up-to-date profile validated by CAGI is a prerequisite to benefit from the support, services and advice offered by CAGI in the following areas:

  • installation and creation of legal structures,
  • relations with public authorities,
  • recruitment and work permit applications,
  • search for office space and conference rooms,
  • accommodation for visiting delegates participating in International Geneva events.

This profile is to be updated on an annual basis via transmission of:

  • the annual report,
  • the audited financial report,
  • the minutes of the last General Assembly / Foundation Board meeting that approved these reports.
