Escalade 2024

Every year, Geneva commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Escalade which took place on the night of December 11-12, 1602.

It was a failed attempt by Charles-Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, to take Geneva by surprise by climbing its walls.

Celebration

The Company of 1602 is a Geneva historical society founded in March 1926 to perpetuate the commemoration of the Escalade. For three days, it recreates scenes from daily life in Geneva at the dawn of the 17th century.

It organizes 3 parades including a variety of activities on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th with the grand historical parade through the Old Town.

Sunday’s parade will be broadcast live on the national TV channel RTS2 from 5.45pm to 7.45pm and on the local channel Leman bleu from 5pm to 8.30pm.

Sporting and festive event ahead of the festivities on December 7 and 8. Meet up at Parc des Bastions for a variety of activities – food, music, exhibitions, stands, children’s area.
