Sustainable development in action

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all human beings can meet their basic needs, including water, food, shelter, education, health and employment.
Sustainable development is a commitment that extends from the global to the local: the canton promotes the balanced and sustainable development of Geneva and the region in order to preserve the planet and the well-being of future generations. Discover the Agenda 21 of the canton of Geneva.

Sorting & recycling household waste

Geneva promotes the sorting of waste in order to save natural and financial resources. The City of Geneva presents all the handy information to help you dispose of all types of waste at the appropriate collection points close to your home.

Beyond the stereotypes (the famous Swiss punctuality!), the fact to arrive on time for an interview or a meeting is essential. If it is not possible for you to go to an appointment, or a visit to your doctor for example, it is important to announce 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will have to pay the consultation even if you did not present yourself.

Hotel and restaurant bills, taxi fares etc. include tax and service. Tips are therefore not required but may be given for excellent service.
