The University of Geneva is composed of various centres and institutes and 9 faculties:
Sciences, Medicine, Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics and Management, Law, Theology, Psychology and Educational Sciences, Translation and Interpreting.
The HES-SO Geneva offers university-level tertiary education focused on professional practice. It offers bachelor's and master's degrees.
The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) is dedicated to the study of world affairs, with a particular emphasis on the cross-cutting fields of international relations and development issues.

Recognition of Swiss and foreign academic diplomas
There are two types of recognition: academic and professional. Recognition of a diploma may be necessary, for example, to practise a regulated profession; in the sectors of health, pedagogy, social work and technical and legal domains or to be admitted to a training course, or to be admitted to a training course (in French).
