The World Council of Churches (WCC) is an ecumenical fellowship of churches founded in 1948, which brings together 345 member churches from all over the world and promotes Christian unity in faith, witness and service for a just and peaceful world.

At its headquarters at the Ecumenical Centre at Grand-Saconnex, a unique space for its member churches, the WCC organises meetings, receives visitors and conducts its work. With a conference hall, an ecumenical chapel, meeting rooms, cafeteria and administrative offices (17,000m2 floor space), the Centre consists of a building with four wings, housing the WCC, related organisations and other tenants.

The WCC is looking for a Receptionist at 100% who will be responsible for the welcome desk, promotion of conference centre services, and who will provide administrative services at the Ecumenical Centre. The receptionist works within the IT and facility services team.

Fluent in English and French, the receptionist will have presentation skills, administrative skills, and a spirit of customer service. At ease both in an international working environment and with the values and mission of the Council, the receptionist will:

  • Welcome visitors to the Ecumenical Centre, answer the phone and maintain good relations with related organisations and tenants;
  • Take responsibility for certain aspects of security administration in the building, including distribution and collection of keys and access badges, according to procedures;
  • Respond to inquiries for use of conference facilities, manage meeting room reservations and prepare their invoicing;
  • Present the Ecumenical Centre offices to prospective tenants, and advise on services available, including IT services.

Qualifications and special requirements:

Experience : At least four years related experience.

Education: Professional training in reception services and business administration.


  • Flexible and multi-tasker.
  • Experience with conference centre services.
  • Autonomous with ability to work in a team.
  • Quality of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.

Language skills : Ability to correspond in French and English.

Computer skills: Intermediate level in MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel; SharePoint an asset.

Expected starting date: 1 January 2018
