The cantonal authorities have the means to pursue active policies in support of international solidarity, on the following basis:

Loi sur le financement de la solidarité Law on the financing of international solidarity (LFSI) of the 4th October 2001

Regulations relating to the law on the financing of international solidarity (D1 06.01) of the 19th of June 2002

Financial support from the State of Geneva may not include any contribution toward the operating expenses of the requesting organisation, and is complementary to other public and private contributions. It relates only to projects.

Projects abroad

Projects planned for abroad must be submitted to the International Solidarity Service.

Projects in Geneva

Projects related to an event organised by an NGO in the context of International Geneva (seminar, conference, training...) can be submitted to the Protocol Service of the Canton of Geneva. Beforehand, though, it is strongly recommended that you meet with the NGO Service of CAGI.

Subsidies that can be considered to relate to the financing of the travel and lodging of persons from developing countries who will be participating in the event can be considered. It is important therefore that persons receiving such help acquire knowledge and skills that they can use once they have left Geneva to return to their homes.
