Office space
Finding office space
Working in close collaboration with the Housing service of Geneva Welcome Center (CAGI), and relevant administrations, the NGO service can help NGOs find office space in Geneva.
There are in fact several buildings meant for NGOs. They are often located in the international sector, and they are suitably equipped.
In addition, because the CAGI has privileged relations with the private sector, the CAGI is in a position to know what is on offer in Geneva at any given time. The NGO Service acts as a facilitator; afterwards, if there is agreement, the matter is dealt with directly between the NGO and the landlord.
Covering the cost of renting offices
In certain circumstances, the rent can be financed by the Canton, for a maximum of two years. The conditions for receiving such aid are explained during a meeting with the NGO Service. It is the State Council that takes the decision, based on a recommendation from the Interdepartmental Group for International Affairs (GIAI), after consulting the Federal authorities.
