Sphere is a voluntary initiative that brings a wide range of humanitarian agencies together

accountability of humanitarian actors to their constituents, donors and affected
populations.

The Sphere Handbook is one of the most widely known and internationally recognized sets of common principles and universal minimum standards in life-saving areas of
humanitarian response. The Handbook was developed to contribute to the professionalization of the humanitarian sector, built on a common foundation of
humanitarian principles, quality, and accountability. Increasingly, the Handbook is used by a diverse range of people and organizations working in humanitarian action who use the
Sphere standards to build capacity, design quality programs, monitor effectiveness, and
advocate for improved humanitarian outcomes.
